BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh’s women’s soccer program has been recognized for the work of its student-athletes in the classroom, as the Mountain Hawks were one of six Patriot League schools recognized with the 2007 Academic Team Award for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). The Mountain Hawks earned the academic honor for the fifth straight season under head coach Manny Oudin with a 3.33 team grade point average in the 2006-07 academic year.

The Academic Team Award is given to programs that posted a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2006-07 academic year. A total of 407 programs, 112 men’s and 295 women’s earned the honor, with Lehigh earning recognition following each of Manny Oudin’s first five seasons as head coach. Among Patriot League schools, Navy, Army and Bucknell joined Lehigh in earning recognition on the women’s side.

The Mountain Hawks placed 14 student-athletes on the Patriot League’s Academic Honor Roll following the 2006 season, with Allie Caldwell leading the way with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Earlier this season, senior Jen Fetsick was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District II second team by the College Sports Information Directors of America, the third time in four years in which at least one Lehigh women’s soccer player earned Academic All-District honors.

On the pitch, Lehigh finished the 2007 season with a 7-7-4 record, finishing one win shy of qualifying for its fourth straight Patriot League tournament.
