Lehigh travels to Penn State for Monday matinee

Lehigh closes out 2007 with a trip to Happy Valley on Monday afternoon to take on in-state foe Penn State as the Mountain Hawks look for their fourth straight victory.  Lehigh, which has not played a road game since December 1, downed Monmouth on Friday evening at home behind a stellar defensive effort that held the Hawks to 39 points and forced them into 27 percent shooting.  Marquis Hall and Rob Keefer combined for 23 points, while senior captain Bryan White notched his third straight game of double-digit rebounds, bringing his career total to an even 500.  Penn State has been off since defeating Patriot League foe Colgate 66-48 on December 23 at home, the Nittany Lions seventh straight win at home to start this season.

The Mountain Hawks forced Monmouth into a dismal 27 percent shooting performance in their win on Friday evening.  That marked the lowest mark by a Lehigh opponent since the Brown and White held American to 26 percent shooting in a 51-49 victory on January 6, 2007 at Stabler Arena.

In their last five games the Mountain Hawks are shooting 45 percent from the field and 79 percent at the free throw line.  During that time, Lehigh has shot a higher percentage from the field than its opponent in every game but one (Harvard).

Monday’s tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm from Bryce Jordan Arena in University Park.  The game will be televised live on the Big Ten Network and will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 as well as Lehighsports.com.
