Lehigh downs Briarcliffe in exhibition

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh raced past Briarcliffe 99-48 on Friday evening at Stabler Arena in an exhibition game.  Sophomore Zahir Carrington scored 18 points in only 12 minutes on seven-of-eight shooting, while junior Phil Anderson netted 14 points, including two three pointers.  As a team the Mountain Hawks shot 59 percent, including a sizzling 64 percent mark in the opening 20 minutes.  Briarcliffe was led on offense by Nikita Davis’ 13 points, while Josh Smith added 11.

 

Lehigh put on an offensive display throughout the game, scoring 46 points in the paint, 25 points off turnovers and 18 fast break points.  The Mountain Hawks held a 14-0 advantage in second chance points, which was a direct result of a dominating 52-28 advantage on the glass, led by Anderson’s nine and freshman Michael Ojo’s seven boards.  Lehigh dished out 30 assists on 39 field goals, as sophomore Marquis Hall handed out seven and classmate Matt Shamis dished out five. 

 

Lehigh returns to regular season action on December 28 when the Mountain Hawks welcome Monmouth to Stabler Arena for a 7:00 match up.  Tickets are available for purchase at the arena box office prior to the tip-off.
