BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshman Rob Keefer was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Monday, it was announced.  The 6-3 guard averaged 10 points, 3.5 rebounds and one assist in a pair of Lehigh wins last week over Saint Peter’s and St. Francis (Pa.).  Keefer becomes the first award winner for Lehigh in the early going this season.

Versus Saint Peter’s on November 14 Keefer hit two three pointers en route to an eight-point, one rebound performance.  The Pennsylvania native then followed that up with a five-of-seven showing at St. Francis for a career-high 12 points to go along with six boards and two assists.  Keefer’s six rebounds is a career-high and it included a key board with 3:44 left in the game which led to a Mountain Hawks three-pointer.

For the season, Keefer has started all three Lehigh games and is averaging 8.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 24 minutes of action.  He currently leads all Mountain Hawk freshmen in minutes, points and rebounds.

Keefer and the Mountain Hawks return to action on Tuesday evening when they travel to New York to take on the Albany Great Danes.  Tip-off from SEFCU Arena is set for 7:00 and all of the action can be heard live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 AM as well as Lehighsports.com beginning at 6:30.  Veteran Matt Kerr will handle the commentary.
