Bronx, N.Y. – The Mountain Hawks picked up their first win of the year, with a 46-33 win over Fordham Saturday night in the Bronx.  Kaela Pearce led the Lehigh charge, scoring 13 points, including three from beyond the arc.  Melissa Rich added eight points, all coming in the second half and six rebounds.  Megan Mahoney was the leading scorer for the Rams, scoring 12 points, with two three-pointers.  With the win, Lehigh improves to 1-1, while Fordham’s record drops to 0-3.

The teams battled back and forth with Fordham taking the lead 16-15 into halftime.  Pearce led the Mountain Hawks with six points, coming off two three-pointers.  Erica Prosser scored four points in 15 minutes of action coming off the bench.  Claire Sullivan was 0-for-1 from the field, but added two assists, one block and two steals.

Mahoney and Annie Zopf led the Rams with seven points each in the first half.  Mahoney also added four rebounds in 17 minutes of action.  Both teams struggled to find their range, with Lehigh shooting just .214 and Fordham shooting .263.

Prosser had a career high 12 points, that included six free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

Cold shooting plagued the Rams all night, shooting 12-of-50 for the game, including a 10 minute scoreless streak to begin the second half.

Lehigh returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Princeton for a non-conference clash with the Tigers.  The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. from Jadwin Gymnasium.  As part of an agreement between the two schools, Princeton’s streaming video feed of the contest will be available at no extra cost as part of Lehigh’s broadcast package through Yahoo! Sports.
