The academic honor is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) whose schools are in the region. To be eligible for the award, individuals must be at least a sophomore, as well as a starter or key reserve on her team with a minimum grade point average of 3.20.
Fetsick has a career-best five goals for the Mountain Hawks in 2007 and her 10 points rank second on the team. She recently scored twice in a road win over a Bucknell team that had been undefeated in league play. Fetsick also scored the game winning goal in Lehigh’s win over Marist in early September. A versatile performer who can play in the midfield or at forward, Fetsick’s 14 career goals are the most among active Lehigh players.
Equally impressive has been Fetsick’s work in the classroom where she carries a 3.86 GPA and has made multiple appearances on both the Dean’s List and Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. The Wildwood, N.J., native plans on remaining at Lehigh next year as a Presidential Scholar while she completes her Masters in Elementary Education. Fetsick is also active in Lehigh’s student-athlete community as she serves on Lehigh’s Student-Athlete Mentoring (SAM) board and also works as a freshman athlete mentor.
Fetsick is the second Lehigh player in as many years to earn All-District honors from CoSIDA, joining Daniela Molina ’07, who was a second team selection last year.
The Mountain Hawks will return to the pitch on Saturday when they wrap-up the regular season at home against Army. Game time is set for 7 p.m. from the Ulrich Sports Complex and the game will be broadcast online at Lehighsports.com with streaming powered by Yahoo! Sports.
