EASTON, Pa. – Lehigh suffered its first Patriot League loss of the season on Saturday as the Mountain Hawks fell to arch rival Lafayette 3-2 at Rappolt Field. Lehigh falls to 5-6 with the loss, while the Leopards improve to 4-7. Both teams are 1-1 after two weekends of league games.

Maggie Condon gave the Leopards the early lead with the first her two goals on the day, two and a half minutes into the contest.

Davies tied the game at one in the tenth minute, finding the back of the cage off a penalty corner, her league-leading eighth of the season. Senior Marny Hearn and junior Kara Zweizig netted assists on the play, on which Lehigh recorded its only shot of the first half.

Lafayette took the lead for good at the 21:11 mark when Condon scored her second goal of the game, this one coming off of a penalty corner, with Jaclyn DeSanti earning an assist.

In the second half, Lafayette was able to extend its lead as Megan Cicchi found the back of the cage with just over 20 minutes to play. The Mountain Hawks tried to fight its way back into the game, closing the gap to one as sophomore Kelly Fox scored her second goal of the season on a feed from senior Christy Smith. Lehigh out shot Lafayette 7-4 in the second half, but was unable to secure a tying goal.

Shots in the game were even at eight apiece, while the Mountain Hawks had an 8-7 advantage in penalty corners. Freshman Jessica Miller made one save in 49:16 of action, before giving way to classmate Lilia Stefaniwsky, who played the final 20:44 and also made one save.

Daves led the way for Lehigh with three shots, while Fox and Christy Smith added two apiece.
