NEWARK, Del. – The Mountain Hawks lost their final non-conference match of the season on Tuesday night, falling to Delaware in straight games.  The game scores were 30-13, 30-11 and 30-19.  The Fightin’ Blue Hens entered the match ranked sixth in the East Region of the latest AVCA Poll and improve their record to 24-4.  With the loss, Lehigh falls to 5-18 on the year.  Shannon Spafford led the team with three kills, 10 digs and six blocks in the match.

The Mountain Hawks had six players tie for the team lead with three kills in the match.  Spafford led all Lehigh players with 10 digs and Brittany Thurston and Dannielle Pimental were close behind with eight and seven digs respectively.

Lehigh was able to keep its number of unforced errors down in the match; however, they just couldn’t convert on scoring chances, as the Mountain Hawks had just 20 kills compared to 51 for Delaware.

The Fightin’ Blue Hens had two players in double digit kills, led by Colleen Walsh with 15 and hit .667 in the match.  Kelly Gibson added another 14 kills for Delaware, to go along with her five digs and three service aces.

The Mountain Hawks return to action on Friday, when they battle with conference foe Army in West Point, N.Y.  The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
