BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After helping lead Lehigh to its first win of the season on Saturday, senior goalkeeper Stephanie Palmieri earned an honorable mention from the Patriot League on Monday afternoon. Palmieri tied a season-high with eight saves in the Mountain Hawks 5-1 victory at Georgetown, earning her first career victory as a starting goalkeeper.

After giving up an early goal to the Hoyas, Palmieri stepped up her game while her Mountain Hawk teammates responded with five un-answered strikes to improve Lehigh to 1-2 on the season. Her eight saves equaled her season high, set in the season opener at Temple. While five different Mountain Hawks found the back of the cage, Palmieri used her full arsenal of pads to keep the Hoyas scoreless over the final 60 minutes.

For the season, the Blue Bell native is 1-2 with a 1.96 goals against average, and 20 saves. Palmieri has had to be at her best all season, as she is the only true goalkeeper on the Mountain Hawks roster.

Palmieri and her Mountain Hawk teammates will return to the turf on Wednesday night as Lehigh opens its home slate against UMBC. Game time is set for 7:00 pm from the Ulrich Sports Complex with video and audio coverage online at lehighsports.com with streaming powered by Yahoo! Sports.
