BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh senior forward Daniela Molina has been named the Patriot League’s first Offensive Player of the Week of the new season, it was announced on Monday. Molina scored in each of Lehigh’s first two games, including the overtime game-winner in a 2-1 win over Marist, as the Mountain Hawks split a pair of overtime games to open their season.

The Cali, Colombia native pounced on a loose ball in the 18 yard box and slipped it into the back of the net to give the Mountain Hawks the overtime win in their season opener against Marist on Friday night. Earlier in that same game, Molina drew a foul that led directly to the free kick that resulted in sophomore Hailey Coonrad’s game-tying goal.

On Sunday Molina did her damage early, as her 34th minute apparent cross attempt sailed past Stony Brook goalkeeper Marisa Viola and into the corner of the net to give the Mountain Hawks a 1-0 lead in a game they would eventually drop in overtime.

Molina totaled nine shots in Lehigh’s two games. Her two goals give her 10 for her career, while her goal Friday night was the fifth game-winner of her career and her second overtime game winner. Molina was a second-team All-Patriot League last season.

The Mountain Hawks will return to action on Friday, with their first road game of 2006. Lehigh will visit Quinnipiac in a match that gets underway at 4:00 pm from Hamden, Connecticut.
