A lot at stake as Lehigh heads to Holy Cross

2/24/2006 12:00:00 AM | Men's Basketball

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh and Holy Cross close out the regular season on Sunday afternoon in a game with huge post season implications.  The winner of the contest will secure home court advantage for the first two rounds of the upcoming Patriot League Tournament, with the loser forced to take to the road.  The Mountain Hawks are coming off of a tough 81-70 loss at Bucknell on Wednesday, but have still won 13 of their last 15 games, including six of seven on the road.  Holy Cross has won six of its last seven, including a 62-56 victory in Hamilton, New York over Colgate on Wednesday.  Lehigh has only beaten the Crusaders twice under Billy Taylor, but one of those wins came last month in Bethlehem thanks to a Jose Olivero last second shot.

In last season’s Patriot League Tournament, Lehigh took on Colgate in the opening round at the Hart Center.  Joe Knight sank 15 of 19 shots, including ten three-pointers en route to a tournament record 45 points, which was the highest scoring game in all of Division I last season.  Knight scored an incredible 30 points in the first 9:50 of the second half.

Sunday’s contest is scheduled to tip-off at 1:06 from the Hart Center and will be televised live on CSTV, DirecTV channel 610 as part of the Patriot League Television package, with Bob Socci and John Feinstein.  The game will be also be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1230 and 1320 AM in the Lehigh Valley, and around the world on lehighsports.com with streaming provided by Yahoo!
