HAMILTON, N.Y. – Lehigh and Colgate engaged in an intense overtime affair to close out the first half of Patriot League play on Wednesday evening at Cotterell Court, but after being up by double digits, the Mountain Hawks could not hold on, and eventually fell to the Raiders 71-69.  Senior Jenny Callan and junior Adrienne Blount led the Brown and White on offense with 19 and 18 points, respectively, while Megan Ballard scored a career-high 28 tallies for the Raiders.  With the loss, Lehigh sees its record go to 7-13 on the season, 2-5 in Patriot League action, while Colgate improves to 5-15 overall and 3-4 in league play.

For the game, Lehigh connected on 44 percent of its field goals and held a dominating 44-26 advantage on points in the paint.  Blount pulled down 11 rebounds to record her third double-double of the season, while Callan added eight boards and freshman Tricia Smith notched a career-high eight caroms.  Sophomore Claire Sullivan dished out a team-best five helpers and added two steals on the evening, but as a team, Lehigh hit just 14 of 26 free throws.  Wednesday marked the fourth overtime game of the season for the Mountain Hawks, and just the seventh extra session contest since the 1999-2000 season.

Colgate hit on 34 percent from the field on Wednesday, and only 26 percent from beyond the arc, while turning it over 21 times, compared to the Mountain Hawks 22.  Freshman Gretchen Polinski scored ten points and added 11 boards for the double-double, while Melanie Cargle added six rebounds.  No Raider had more than two assists, but as a team they did record 17 steals.

Lehigh trailed 33-27 at the halftime break, but used a 14 of 24 shooting performance in the second half to surge ahead by 11, before Colgate came back and forced the overtime period.

Lehigh returns to action on Saturday evening when the Mountain Hawks welcome American to Stabler Arena.  Tip-off is set for 5:05 and tickets can be purchased at the Lehigh Athletics Ticket Office, located in Grace Hall during normal business hours, by calling 610-7LU-GAME, at anytime on lehighsports.com, or on Saturday at the arena box office prior to the contest.
