BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Mountain Hawks return home for the first time in three weeks, and return to the Ulrich Sports Complex for the first time since August 26, as Lehigh opens its Patriot League home slate with a pair of games this weekend.  Lehigh will host Colgate on Friday night and then will battle Bucknell on Sunday. Lehigh and Colgate shared the Patriot League regular season championship last season, but it was Bucknell who went on to the tournament crown after knocking out the Mountain Hawks in a penalty kick shootout.

Propelled by an overtime penalty kick by senior Gina Lewandowski, Lehigh defeated Lafayette in its league opener on Saturday. Last time out, the Mountain Hawks lost at Loyola by a 4-1 score, so the Brown and White will look to climb back to .500 and improve to 2-0 in the league tonight. The Mountain Hawks will be looking to start league play 2-0 for the third straight season and just the third time in school history.

Lehigh’s recently completed four game road trip featured two overtime victories and a pair of tough losses. Senior Daniela Molina continues to lead the Mountain Hawks with six goals and 13 points. Lewandowski’s goal versus Lafayette was her first of the season and 34th of her career, putting her three goals behind Lehigh Hall of Famer Dia Johnson Smith ‘96 for the school’s career record.

Colgate has been off since Saturday when the Raiders lost 2-1 at Bucknell in the league opener for both teams. Despite the loss, Jillian Arnault was named the league’s Player of the Week. The freshman leads the Raiders with 11 points and is tied for the team lead in goals and points. Junior Franny Iacuzzi is another dangerous offensive player for Colgate. Iacuzzi is tied for the team lead with four goals and ranks second with 10 points.

Bucknell holds a 7-3-1 record heading into Friday night’s game at Lafayette. The Bison enter this weekend’s action in a three-way tie for first in the league with Lehigh and Navy, and are riding a school-record six game winning streak. Sophomore Jennifer Dervarics leads Bucknell with six goals, while junior Krista Lee Gentile has added five tallies for the Bison.

Lehigh trails in the all-time series against both teams. Colgate leads the series versus Lehigh 12-3-1 while the Bison hold a 10-5-1 advantage over the Mountain Hawks. Lehigh has won the last two regular season meetings against both teams, including a 3-1 win in Hamilton, N.Y. last year and a 1-0 shutout in Lewisburg.

The weekend of soccer action kicks off Friday night when Lehigh hosts Colgate at 7:00 pm. The Mountain Hawks will then face the Bison on Sunday at 1:00 pm. Both games will be broadcast live online at lehighsports.com. Sunday’s game will be televised in the Lehigh Valley on Service Electric 2 Sports, Sunday at 5:30 pm.
