Things started well for the Mountain Hawks on a rainy windy Saturday afternoon, as junior Christy Smith dribbled through the Raider defense and beat Jacque DeMarco for her team leading eighth goal of the season.
Late in the first half, Colgate answered back scoring two goals in two and a half minutes apart. Courtney Kundtz scored an unassisted goal to tie the game, before Laura Flisnik scored on a feed from Lauren Carey with a minute and a half to play before halftime.
The Raiders out shot Lehigh 6-5 in the opening half and had a 5-2 advantage in penalty corners.
In the second half, the Mountain Hawks continued to press for a tying goal, but were unable to beat DeMarco. Colgate added an insurance goal when Carey scored with just under five minutes to play.
Colgate out shot Lehigh 12-10 on the afternoon and had a 9-5 advantage on penalty corners. Christy Smith had eight of Lehigh’s 10 shots on the afternoon, with sophomore Kalynn Davies adding the other two.
In the goal cage, senior Stephanie Palmieri made six saves for the Mountain Hawks, while DeMarco stopped five Lehigh shots for the Raiders.
With Lehigh’s loss, Bucknell has the upper hand at the final tournament berth, despite a 3-1 loss to the Mountain Hawks earlier this season.
