BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh steps away from Patriot League play Wednesday evening, as the Mountain Hawks welcome the Pioneers of Sacred Heart to the Ulrich Sports Complex for a midweek tilt. The Mountain Hawks (4-9 overall, 1-2 Patriot League) are looking to get back on the winning track after dropping their last two games, including a 4-0 setback to Holy Cross on Saturday. Lehigh is 1-3 on this current six game homestand, which wraps up with Saturday’s home finale against No. 19 American.

It will be important for the Mountain Hawks to get off to a good start Wednesday. On Saturday, Holy Cross scored twice in the game’s first two minutes and tacked on two more goals after halftime. Lehigh had the better of the chances in the latter part of the first half, but could not get the ball past Crusader goalkeeper Erin Singleton. Junior Christy Smith recorded six shots on the day, five of which were on goal.  Senior Stephanie Palmieri set aside eight shots in the goal cage.

Sacred Heart (11-4 overall, 4-2 NEC) brings a high-powered offense, averaging nearly four goals per game, into Wednesday’s game. The Pioneers are led by sophomore Carisa Eye, who is second in the nation with 28 goals and leads Division I in goals per game. Sacred Heart is looking to bounce back from a 2-1 overtime loss to Fairfield on Sunday. The Pioneers are 7-2 in non-league games this season.

Lehigh and Sacred Heart have meet each of the last two seasons, with the Pioneers winning both games, including a 2-1 double overtime win last season in Connecticut. Wednesday night’s game gets underway at 7:00 pm and will be broadcast online at lehighsports.com with streaming audio and video powered by Yahoo! Sports.
