ECAC tabs Lewandowski as Player of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The accolades continue to roll in for Lehigh senior Gina Lewandowski. One day after being named the Patriot League’s Offensive Player of the Week, the Mountain Hawk midfielder earned the same honor from the ECAC. Lewandowski scored twice and added an assist in three games last week for the Mountain Hawks, who posted impressive home victories over Colgate and Bucknell last week.

The Coopersburg, Pa. native scored a goal in each of Lehigh’s wins last week and also contributed an assist in Lehigh’s 3-1 victory over Colgate. Both of her goals last week were game winners, as Lehigh began its Patriot League schedule 3-0 for just the second time in school history.

Although early season injuries have limited her to just eight games, Lewandowski has caught fire as of late. She has scored in three of Lehigh’s last four games and all three of her goals have given the Mountain Hawks wins in league contests.

Lewandowski’s three goals this season give her 36 for her career, which leaves her one behind Lehigh Athletics Hall of Fame member Dia Johnson Smith ’96 for the school record.

Lehigh (7-6 overall, 3-0 Patriot League) will return to the pitch on Saturday when the Mountain Hawks kick-off a critical three game league road trip against Army. Game time is set for 1:00 from Clinton Field at West Point, N.Y.
