WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Lehigh’s school record unbeaten streak came to an abrupt end on Sunday afternoon as the Mountain Hawks were beaten by Monmouth, 1-0 on The Great Lawn. The Brown and White yielded an early goal and despite out shooting the Hawks, were unable to pull level as the Mountain Hawks fall to 6-1-1 on the season. Monmouth improves to 2-4-1 with the victory.

The game’s only goal came in the sixth minute as Megan Bry fed Kate Sands, who slipped one past Lehigh goalkeeper Julie Kafka for her fourth goal of the season. The Mountain Hawks out shot Monmouth 12-8 for the contest but were unable to slip one past Hawks keeper Katie Buffa, who made six saves to earn the shutout.

Offensively Gina Lewandowski registered five shots for Lehigh, while Megan Edwards and Lauren Calabrese added two apiece. Julie Kafka was credited with one save as she suffers the first loss of her collegiate career.

The Mountain Hawks return to the pitch on Friday, when they will return home to take on Binghamton. Game time is 6:00 p.m. from the Ulrich Sports Complex.
