BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After its first appearance in the Patriot League Tournament since 1996, Lehigh is eager to begin the 2005 season and has been chosen to finish fourth in the Patriot League preseason poll, as announced on Monday.  The poll is voted on by the league’s six head coaches and sports information directors.  Reigning champion American was selected to repeat with 50 votes, including 10 first place tallies.  Holy Cross was picked to finish second, followed by Colgate, the Mountain Hawks, Bucknell and Lafayette.

Lehigh returns 19 players from a year ago, and boasts a strong senior class of seven student-athletes that have helped lead the Brown and White to more victories than the previous season in each of the past two campaigns.  The Mountain Hawks fell to American in last year’s tournament semi-finals and will look to capture a second straight berth in the postseason party for the first time in school history.

Lehigh opens its 2005 season this Saturday when the Mountain Hawks welcome Temple to the Ulrich Sports Complex.  Game time is set for 1:00.
