Lehigh finishes 12th at Lafayette Invite

Center Valley, PA – Lehigh notched a 626 to finish 12th out of 23 teams field at the two-day Lafayette Invitational. American University set the pace on both Friday and Saturday and finished with a 595. St. Bonaventure was six shots behind while Niagara and Siena tied for third, each shooting 606 on the Center Valley Golf Club. Host Lafayette ’s “A” entry finished 9th with a 621.
The Mountain Hawks were led by senior Patrick McCahill (79-74), who tied for 20th in the individual standings with a 153, including a team-low round of 74 on Saturday. Jason Maloney (80-77) finished only four strokes behind McCahill with a 157, good enough to tie for 43rd. The top three Mountain Hawk golfers upped their play Saturday, combining to drop ten strokes off their total while the course par was raised from 70 to 71. Sophomore Kevin Dolph (76-87) had a solid first round but struggled late, and Sophomore Alan Borowski chipped in Friday with a 75 but ran into trouble on day two and was disqualified, leaving Dolph’s 87 to count in the scoring. Bryan Bigley of Lehigh resumes spring competition on April 16, when the Mountain Hawks compete in the two-day Navy Invitational.
