WASHINGTON, D.C. – Lehigh saw its season come to an end on Saturday afternoon as the Mountain Hawks fell to top-seeded American in the semi-finals of the Patriot League Tournament 7-0.  With the loss, the Brown and White end 2005 with a 6-13 record, while the Eagles, who are ranked seventh in the country, improve their record to 18-1 and move onto Sunday’s Patriot League Championship game, scheduled for a noon start in D.C.  Despite the loss, Lehigh did hang tough with American, trailing only 3-0 at halftime.  The Mountain Hawks appearance in the Patriot League Tournament was their second straight postseason berth, a first in school history.

American opened its scoring quickly as Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, Camila Infante dribbled in front of the goal and scored an unassisted goal just 4:12 into the contest to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.  Kaitlin DeTroia then scored back-to-back goals in a span of just 2:55 giving the home team a 3-0 lead with under eight minutes left in the opening half.  Lehigh did not record any shots in the opening 35 minutes, while American unleashed 14.  Senior tri-captain Meghan Gove was strong in the cage however, stopping seven shots.

As the second half started, American picked up right where it left off, as Tiffany Carter scored just 3:50 in, on an unassisted score to put the Eagles up 4-0.  Infante, Carter and Tiffany Hershberger would then all add additional scores, sending the top-seed onto the championship round.

For the game, Lehigh was out shot 24-5 and had four corners to the Eagles five.  Gove finished with ten saves on the afternoon, while Allison Fayfich stopped two Mountain Hawk shots.  Second-Team All-Patriot League selection, senior Maureen Harrington led the Brown and White with two shots.
