Ellis' career night leads Lehigh past Monmouth

The first half started as a back and forth affair before Lehigh pulled away in the final four minutes on the strength of its three-point shooting. The Mountain Hawks canned six of ten shots from beyond the arc and connected on 50 percent of its field goal opportunities overall as the Mountain Hawks took a 32-26 lead into halftime. Ellis poured in 14 points in the opening half including four three point goals, while classmate Emily Geosits added eight points and two treys for the Mountain Hawks.
The Mountain Hawks were able to pull away in the second half as the defense held Monmouth to 26 percent shooting and the offense connected on six more three-point buckets, as Lehigh led by as many as 22 points after halftime. Junior Adrienne Blount recorded a double-double, scoring 14 points and pulling down a career high 14 rebounds. Senior Jenny Callan added 13 boards for the Mountain Hawks including eight on the offensive glass.
Sophomore point guard Claire Sullivan chipped in with four points, six rebounds and a game high eight assists, while Geosits finished with 11 points for the Mountain Hawks.
Nyaimah Ware led Monmouth with 10 points on the evening. The Hawks shot 35 percent from the field and connected on 3-of-16 three pointers.
