The Mountain Hawks did a good deal of their damage on the evening from the free-throw line. Lehigh connected on 10 of 11 free throws in the opening half and the Mountain Hawks held the Dragons to 29 percent shooting from the field and led 31-24 at the break. Callan and junior Sara Ellis had eight points apiece in the first half to pace the Brown and White. Narissa Suber tallied 11 first half points for the Dragons.
In the second half, Drexel cut into the Lehigh lead, as Suber heated up from beyond the three point arc. Suber connected on six treys on the evening as she tied Callan for game high scoring honors with 20.
The latter stages of the game turned into a free throw shooting contest. A pair of Adrienne Blount free throws with 2:30 to play gave Lehigh a lead, then two more free throws from Blount put Lehigh up by three. Drexel pulled within one on a Scanlon bucket, then after a Lehigh turnover, Scanlon hit the turnaround baseline jumper with time running down to give Drexel the win.
Lehigh finished the night shooting 20-for-22 from the line. Blount and Ellis scored 12 points apiece to give the Mountain Hawks three players in double figures.
The Mountain Hawks will look to get back on the winning track when they welcome Monmouth to Stabler Arena, Monday night at 7:00. For tickets, call (610) 7LU-GAME or visit the Stabler Arena box office on game night.
