Slow start dooms Mountain Hawks in loss at Bucknell

The Bison raced to a 5-0 lead in game one and never looked back. The Mountain Hawks hit for a negative percentage in game one, but Bucknell cruised to a 30-12 victory.
Lehigh would have better success in games two and three. The Mountain Hawks hit .111 in game two and had 15 kills, but in the end the Bison prevailed 30-24. The Brown and White had their best hitting percentage game in game three, hitting at a .129 clip but Bucknell held the Mountain Hawks off 30-18 to sweep the match.
“In the first game, we just weren’t in sync at all,” said head coach Amanda Moran. “In the second and third games we fought back, they were close all the way through, but with the new setters and lineup changes we just couldn’t get on track tonight. Hopefully we will be able to rebound in our next match on Friday.”
Michelle Schwendenmann led Lehigh with nine kills in the match. Seniors Nikky Barnes and Morgan Volkart chipped in with eight kills apiece as Lehigh hit .051 for the match. Freshman Tory Marion handed out 27 assists subbing for the injured Kathleen Lafferty. Cassidy Maumus tallied 11 digs on defense for the Mountain Hawks.
Jennie Smith led the Bison with 10 kills. Bucknell had a .378 hitting percentage on the evening.
Lehigh returns to the court on Friday when the Mountain Hawks travel to Colgate. The match gets underway at 7:00 from
