BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After defeating Colgate in a dramatic 3-2 overtime affair on Saturday afternoon to move one step closer to a second consecutive berth in the Patriot League Tournament, seniors Marissa Iannarone and Meghan Gove have been named the Patriot League Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.  Iannarone scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime, and Gove stopped 14 shots, not allowing a goal in the second half or overtime to lift the Brown and White to its first victory over Colgate since 1996.

Trailing 2-0 at halftime to Colgate, Iannarone led the Lehigh charge, scoring her first goal of the day after she inserted the ball into play on a penalty corner, got it back and fired a shot into the back of the cage at the 48:40 mark.  After the Mountain Hawks tied the game with less than one minute remaining, Iannarone scored her third game-winning goal of the season 6:30 into the extra session, when she got the ball on the left side of the field, made a move past a Raider defender and slipped the ball into the cage.  Iannarone has scored both Lehigh game-winners in each of the Mountain Hawks league victories this year, as the New Jersey native also scored the winning tally in the team’s victory over archrival Lafayette in late September.

Iannarone leads Lehigh in points with 22 and assists with eight.  She is tied for the team lead in goals with seven, and her three game-winning goals lead the Brown and White and place her in second in the Patriot League.  For her career, Iannarone now has five game-winning goals.

After allowing two first half goals, Gove put the clamps on defensively versus the Raiders, stopping all six shots she faced in the second half and overtime period.  The Maine native recorded her seventh game of double digit saves, and for her career, now has 299 saves.  Gove is second in the Patriot League in saves with 140, and leads the league in saves per game at 10.00.  Her two shut outs rank first in the Patriot League, as does her save percentage of .800.  This is the third time this season that Gove has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, and second time in the last four weeks.

Lehigh and the two award winners return to action on Tuesday afternoon when the Mountain Hawks travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on the Dragons of Drexel.  Game time is set for 4:00.
