BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh gets set to return to action this weekend as the Mountain Hawks travel to Washington, D.C. to take on the country’s fifth ranked team in American.  Game time is scheduled for 2:00 from the William I Jacobs Recreational Complex.  This will be Lehigh’s second game versus a nationally ranked opponent this season, as the Mountain Hawks took on No. 17 Villanova in mid-September.  The Brown and White enter this weekend with a record of 5-8 overall and 1-1 in Patriot League play, while the Eagles have yet to lose this season, winning all 12 of their contests, including their only league game.

Lehigh has played its last three games, and eight of its last nine on the road, but will finally return home following Saturday’s contest to take on Rider on Wednesday October 19.  The Mountain Hawks were last in action on October 8, when they dropped a 3-1 decision to Holy Cross in Worcester.  Freshman Jennifer Cochran scored her first collegiate goal that day, as sophomore Christy Smith picked up the assist.

Smith now has two assists to go with one goal for the year, while Marissa Iannarone (five goals, seven assists) Mary Beth Kuenne (five goals, two assists) and Maureen Harrington (three goals, one assist) have helped to lead the offense.

Senior goal keeper Meghan Gove is currently fifth in America in saves with 126, and 12th in save percentage, sending back 79% of opponent’s shots for the year.  Gove also leads the Patriot League in both saves and in shut outs with two.

American, which is averaging over 3.5 goals per game, has scored at least three goals in ten of its 12 games, and ranks seventh in the country in scoring offense and fifth in scoring defense, allowing just 1.00 goal per contest.  The Eagles are led by Camila Infante (eight goals, nine assists), Maggie Hall (nine goals), and Irene Schickhardt (four goals, nine assists) on offense.

American’s primary goal keeper is Allison Fayfich, who has played in ten games, registering 35 saves in 692 minutes of action.  Makinsie Sheridan has seen time in three games thus far, posting a goals against average of 0.47.  The Eagles downed No. 16 James Madison 4-1 in their last game, which was played in Harrisonburg, Va. on Wednesday evening.

Saturday’s game will be broadcast live on American’s website, which can be accessed by clicking here.  In last year’s match up between these two teams, played at the Ulrich Sports Complex, Lehigh came out strong, jumping out to a 1-0 lead before falling in a hard fought game 3-1 to the then seventh-ranked Eagles.
