BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a week in which Lehigh extended its winning streak to four in a row with a 3-1 victory at defending Patriot League champion Colgate, freshman Christin Johnson was recognized Tuesday as the Patriot League rookie of the week. Johnson scored two goals in Friday night’s victory over the Raiders; she scored the game-tying goal in the first half, and then added an insurance goal for the Mountain Hawks midway through the second half. The Medford, N.J. native is currently tied for third on the team with three goals and seven points for the Mountain Hawks, who are 10-1-1 overall and 2-0 in the Patriot League.

This week, Lehigh re-enters the NSCAA regional rankings coming in at No. 10 in the Mid-Atlantic region, where the Mountain Hawks are tied with Loyola (Md.). Despite the road victory over a regionally ranked Colgate team, Lehigh dropped one place from ninth to tenth in the latest Mid-Atlantic rankings from Soccer Buzz magazine.

The Mountain Hawks remain at or near the top in several NCAA statistical categories. Lehigh continues to lead all of Division I in goals-against average (0.244) and shots on goal save percentage (0.948). The Lehigh defense has yielded just three goals all season, the fewest in the nation. The Mountain Hawks also rank second in shutout percentage (0.75), posting a school record nine shutouts in twelve matches this season. In addition, Lehigh has the seventh best winning percentage in Division I and is one of eight schools with one or zero losses this season.

Individually, freshman goalkeeper Julie Kafka remains in the top five nationally in goals-against average and save percentage. Kafka’s .942 save percentage ranks second in the nation and her 0.27 goals against average is fourth best.

Lehigh looks to build on its 2-0 start in Patriot League play with pair of intriguing match-ups this week. The Mountain Hawks will travel to Bucknell on Tuesday night, looking to start the Patriot League slate 3-0 for the first time in school history, then return home to host Army on Friday.  The Black Knights are ranked tenth in the Northeast by the NSCAA and come in at No. 13 in the region according to Soccer Buzz. Tuesday night’s clash with the Bison gets underway at 7:30 from Lewisburg, Pa.
