The Mountain Hawks played their best volleyball of the match in game one, which was a back and forth affair.
Lehigh build a 10-7 lead in game two but the Leopards responded with a 17-6 run and would coast to a nine point victory.
In game three the Mountain Hawks dug themselves into a 12-4 hole before rallying within three. Lafayatte would counter with a 12-2 run of its own to put the game and match out of reach.
Michelle Schwendenmann had eight kills for the Mountain Hawks. Nikky Barnes led the defense with 10 digs. The junior captain is adjusting to her new role in the Libero position, replacing sophomore Cassidy Maumus who is out for the season.
“Nikky started the match very strong,” said coach Amanda Moran, who was able to find some silver linings in the loss.
“The serving was much better,” Moran said. “I thought Kathleen Lafferty had a good game setting.”
