The Mountain Hawks started slowly, dropping the first game 30-26 and then the second 30-13 as the team loaded with new faces struggled to find cohesiveness as a unit. First- year Head Coach Amanda Moran believes leaders need to emerge and bring the team together.
“We need to work together as a team more consistently,” Moran said. “We’re going to need someone to step up in a leadership role.”
Lehigh showed signs of life, as they led for a majority of the third game. In the end, the Broncs would rally to take the third game, 30-25 and the match.
“In game three we saw the potential that this team has,” Moran said. “But we’ve got to show more discipline on the court.”
Morgan Volkart led the Mountain Hawks with 8 kills. Freshman setter Kathleen Lafferty added 22 assists and 8 digs. Stefanie Lombardo led Rider with 13 kills.
