Hamilton, NY – Despite maintaining a slim two-stroke lead heading into the final day of competition at the 2004 Patriot League men’s golf championship, the Mountain Hawks could not hold on. Lehigh (943) finished second overall, behind Army (930) who rallied to win the event under brutal playing conditions as Seven Oaks Golf Course on Sunday afternoon. Navy’s Billy Hurley captures individual medalist honors, by shooting a 223 over the 54-hole event.
Entering the final 27 holes of the event, Lehigh freshman Alan Borowsky was in a second place tie behind Hurley. Golfers on Sunday were treated to a day filled with windy conditions, rain – heavy at times, and temperatures hovering around 37 degrees. As can be expected, scores were generally higher across the board on the final day of competition.
When all was said and done, Borowsky still posted the top Lehigh score. The freshman shot an 18-over par 234 (77-78-79) to finish in a tie for seventh place. Junior Patrick McCahill (81-78-76) finished one stroke in back of Borowsky with a 235 overall. Freshman Will Weihenmayer continued his solid play on the links, with a score of (80-81-77) 238 for the weekend. Other Lehigh competitors included
