Brown tops Lehigh in Brown Classic final

Like Saturday’s contest against
Sara Ellis and Jessica DePalo each scored six points for Lehigh, who shot 41% from the floor. Sarah Hayes (12 points, 4 rebounds) and Holly Robertson (10 points, 4 rebounds, two blocks) did the bulk of scoring for the Bears, who shot 42% in the opening half.
Brown came out strong in the second half, and ran out to a 15-point lead. Lehigh went over six minutes without a field goal, as the Bears built the lead. The Mountain Hawks rallied down the stretch, but were ultimately unable to get over the hump. Lehigh trimmed the Brown lead to three, but could get no closer.
DePalo led Lehigh’s efforts with 15 points on the day. Jenny Callan and Sara Ellis added 12 each. DePalo and sophomore Adrienne Blount (nine points, four rebounds), were named to the all-tournament team.
Holly Robertson led all scorers with 22 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocks. Sarah Hayes added 20 points and four boards as well in the win.
Lehigh will now pause from its schedule for final exams before returning to the court on Saturday, December 18. On that night, the first-place Mountain Hawks will play host to the Binghamton Bearcats.
