Lehigh holds off Yale at Christmas City Classic

Lehigh started the first half strong, leading by ten early. The Bulldogs went on a run midway through the first 20 minutes, but Lehigh would go on a run of its own to take a 10 point advantage into halftime. The Mountain Hawks continued their strong shooting from the field, shooting 59 percent in the first half, led by 12 points from Jessica DePalo and 10 from reigning Patriot League Player of the Week Sara Ellis.
In the second half, the Lehigh shooting cooled considerably and the Bulldogs were able to hang around. The Mountain Hawks shot just 11 of 28 after the intermission while Yale took advantage of some clutch three-pointers and a strong inside performance by Erica Davis, who finished with 19 points and 8 rebounds. “We knew they were a better team than their record indicates,” said head coach Sue Troyan after the game. “They played well the whole game and showed what a tough field this tournament has.”
