Lehigh returns to action at Towson on Wednesday

Bethlehem, PA - Lehigh returns to action in game three of a four game road trip on Wednesday evening as the Mountain Hawks travel to Maryland to take on the Tigers of Towson.  Lehigh played one of its best games last time out at Xavier but came up just short 69-63 in Cincinnati on December 21.  The Brown and White has dropped its last eight games on the road dating back to February 7, 2004 in Annapolis when Lehigh defeated Navy 66-38.  Towson comes into Wednesday’s contest following an 11-day layoff for the holiday break.  The Tigers, who fell to nationally ranked George Washington on December 18 in the nation’s captital by a score of 85-69, have dropped six of their last seven contests, including a 75-64 defeat at the hands of Patriot League foe American.

Senior captain Nick Monserez had one of the best performances of his career in Lehigh’s last game as the Cincinnati native poured in a career-high 20 points, including four three-pointers.  In his last six games, Monserez has connected on 54 percent (13-24) of his shots from downtown, while scoring a total of 60 points in those contests.

Lehigh’s current four-game road trip (Harvard, Xavier, Towson and Wagner) is the longest by a Lehigh team since the early portion of the 2001-02 season when the Mountain Hawks traveled to Columbia, Dartmouth, Vermont and Penn State in a span of nine days.

Lehigh was led in scoring by 11 different players last season and has carried that trend into this year.  The Mountain Hawks have been led in scoring by five different players thus far and in rebounding by six different players.

Wednesday’s tip-off is set for 7:00 from Towson’s Towson Arena.  The game will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1230 AM and 1320 AM as well as on Lehigh’s website at lehighsports.com.  Matt Kerr will provide the commentary beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30 pm.
