Bethlehem, PA – Following their most successful year in school history on the field, the Lehigh women’s soccer team was honored for its accomplishments in the classroom, as the Mountain Hawks were recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Administration of America (NSCAA).

To be eligible for the NSCAA/Adidas academic team award, a team had to have a grade point average of 3.0 or above for the 2003-04 academic year. Coach Manny Oudin’s Mountain Hawks registered a 3.29 team GPA during that span and were recognized as one of four Patriot League Soccer teams to win the award. Lehigh was joined on the list by the Lafayette women’s team as well as the men’s and women’s teams from Bucknell. In all 363 teams were honored, covering all divisions of the NCAA.

In addition to this academic honor, seniors Erin Iwaskiewicz and Shannon Trexler were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District II team last month.

On the field, the 2004 season was the most successful in Lehigh history. The Mountain Hawks finished with a 12-8-0 record, setting a school record for wins in a season and advanced all the way to the Patriot League Championship Game. Lehigh brought home three of the Patriot League’s major post season awards, as sophomore Gina Lewandowski was named Offensive Player of the year, Iwaskiewicz was named Goalkeeper of the Year and Oudin was honored as Coach of the Year.
