Lehigh rallies to force fifth game but falls to Holy Cross

Worcester, MA – The Mountain Hawks fought back from a two games to none deficit, but were unable to overcome Holy Cross, losing 3-2 Friday night. Game scores were 30-25, 30-17, 26-30, 23-30 and 15-10, as the Mountain Hawks fall to 2-12 on the season 1-3 in the Patriot League. The Crusaders improve to 2-14, 1-3.

 

Lehigh dug itself a hole, dropping the first to games but kept its composure as the Mountain Hawks rallied to force a fifth and deciding game. In the deciding game it was Holy Cross who held on for a 15-10 victory.

 

The Mountain Hawks had three players record double figure kills, led by Michelle Schwendenmann’s 20. Jill Racketa added 16 kills and Shaina Jordan had 10. Freshman Kathleen Lafferty recorded a career high 55 assists. Defensively Nikky Barnes had 14 digs while Schwendenmann had 13.

 

Caitlin Agostinacchio led all players with 26 kills.

 

The Mountain Hawks return to the court Saturday night when they visit Army, game time scheduled for 7:00.
