Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh senior goalkeeper Erin Iwaskiewicz was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday for the week ending October 3. It’s the first Patriot League honor of the season for the Nashua, N.H. native, who was the League’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2003.

Iwaskiewicz picked up her fourth shutout of the season in the Mountain Hawks’ 1-0 victory over St. Francis (Pa) last Tuesday. She followed that up with a three save performance in Lehigh’s 2-1 win over Bucknell on Sunday, as the Mountain Hawks won their fourth consecutive game and improved to 2-0 in the Patriot League for the first time in team history.

The senior captain had recorded three consecutive shutouts prior to the Bucknell game. Iwaskiewicz has played every minute of every game this season for the Mountain Hawks, posting a 0.99 goals against average and .784 save percentage.

Lehigh is now 7-4-0 on the season, 2-0 in the Patriot League. The Mountain Hawks return to action Friday night at 7:00 when they visit Navy.
