– One day after notching their first Patriot League win of the season, the Mountain Hawks were defeated by Bucknell 3-0 Saturday night at the Leeman-Turner Arena. Game scores were 30-21, 30-16, 30-24 as the Mountain Hawks fell to 2-11 overall, 1-2 in the Patriot League. The Bison are 9-5 (3-0, Patriot League).

Games one and two were games of runs. Bucknell raced out to an early lead in game one utilizing a 7-0 run in the process. Down by 8 Lehigh mustered a run of its own, getting within one at 20-19, before Bucknell put the game away with a 10-2 spurt.

The Bison grabbed a hold of game two with a 12-2 run. Bucknell took advantage of Lehigh’s errors, the Mountain Hawks had a negative hitting percentage in the second game.

Game three was the closest of all games, a back and forth affair before Bucknell went on a late run to close out the match.

“After last night it was disappointing to return to old form,” said coach Amanda Moran.

“We put in so much mental preparation during the week, but we couldn’t find the same focus tonight,” Moran said.

Michelle Schwendenmann led all players with nine kills. Kathleen Lafferty chipped in with 22 assists and nine digs. Jackie Leahy had seven kills for Bucknell.

The Mountain Hawks return to the court on Friday when they visit Holy Cross. Game time set for 7:00 from Worcester, Massachusetts.
