American was able to take game one in dominating fashion. Up 13-5 the Eagles took advantage of Lehigh miscues and went on an 8-1 run, before coasting to a 30-10 win.
The Mountain Hawks were able to hang tough in game two, hanging within three to four points of the Eagles. However, down 23-20 American rattled off seven points in a row to take a 2-0 lead in the match. American was able to build another lead in the third and deciding game, ultimately prevailing 30-15.
“From a mental standpoint, we need to put the fun back in the game,” said coach Amanda Moran. “The girls are so worried about the losing streak that they’re not having fun with it. “
Jill Racketa led the Mountain Hawks with six kills. As a team Lehigh had an attack percentage of -.042 for the match. Freshman Rachel Moquete had eight digs defensively.
American was lead by Cutrina Biddulph, Erin Allgaier and Elizabeth Maloney who had nine kills each.
Lehigh returns to the court tomorrow night when the Mountain Hawks wrap up the first half of Patriot League play against Navy. Game time set for 7:00, the game will be broadcast live on Lehigh’s website at lehighsports.com.
