Mountain Hawks split a pair at Rider

Lawrenceville, NJ – Lehigh (2-4) split a pair of matches Saturday afternoon at the Rider Cranberry Classic, beating Wagner (0-2) early in the day before falling to host Rider (5-2) in the second contest. The Mountain Hawks won two out of three matches it played in the tournament.
In the first match, Lehigh controlled throughout, beating Wagner in three straight (30-24, 30-19, 30-19). Jeanette Singleton had 9 kills, and Rebecca Gawronski and Michelle Schwendenmann chipped in with 6 kills apiece.
The match against Rider was much closer (30-25, 30-28, 30-24), but the Mountain Hawks, were never able to get in front of the host Broncs. Senior outside hitter Katie Dukatz led the way Lehigh with 11 kills, and Singleton had 9 to go along with 11 digs.
Singleton had 40 kills over the course of the tournament on her way to being named to the all-tournament team. Freshman setter Allison Jack was named to the squad as well, setting the table for the Lehigh attack with a total of 102 assists in 3 matches.
The Mountain Hawks will return to action next weekend as they travel to Cleveland to take part in the Cleveland State Invitational.
