McCoy set to compete at Worlds

The Freestyle Wrestling World Championships will take place this weekend in New York City at Madison Square Garden, and Lehigh head coach Greg Strobel will be there to cheer on volunteer assistant coach Kerry McCoy as he competes in the 264.5 lb. weight class.
McCoy, who earlier this summer won a gold medal in the Pan-Am Games, is the only Olympian on the American team trying to improve upon its seventh place finish in 2001. Last year the team did not compete because of security concerns.
McCoy has never finished higher than fourth at the World Championships, but has beaten many of the top wrestlers he is competing against. Preliminary bouts begin Friday, with the medal rounds concluding on Sunday.
