Trenge unable to compete at World Team Trials

Indianapolis, IN – Lehigh wrestler Jon Trenge was not permitted to enter competition at the United States World Team Trials on Thursday night. The decision came as a result of a medical screening that revealed a skin infection.
Trenge is entering his final year of collegiate eligibility, but plans to file for an Olympic exemption which would allow him to try out for the 2004 U.S. team at the Summer Olympics and defer his final season of collegiate eligibility until the 2004-05 season. The result of Thursday’s screening is not expected to change Trenge’s pursuit of qualifying for the United States Olympic team.
