Lehigh downs Dragons

Philadelphia, PA- Lehigh rebounded well from its loss at Penn. The Brown and White won six of ten bouts to record the 23-12 victory over Drexel Sunday evening. Lehigh improves to 14-6 overall as the Dragons fall to 16-6.
At 149 Mike Pirozzola, having a difficult time coming back, dropped his second bout of the day. In a close battle Drexel’s Matt Kennett recorded a 3-2 decision over Pirozzola to put the Dragon’s up 3-0.
Warren Stout also dropped a close bout at 157. Stout’s only point came from an escape as Jason Staso took the 3-1 decision and the Dragons went up 6-0.
Fourth ranked Chris Vitale rebounded well from his loss at Penn. Vitale recorded his 25th career major decision, defeating Carl Schmidt 16-4. This major decision places him fifth in Lehigh’s all-time list for major decision.
Nate Cote stepped in for Brad Dillon, who suffered a knee injury during the Penn match, at 174. This is the first dual Dillon has missed all season. Cote, giving up a few pounds, dropped an 8-3 decision to Ben Chunko.
At 184, fourth ranked Rob Rohn recorded his 14th consecutive win and his eighth major decision of the season. Rohn recorded five takedowns and a near fall en route to the 14-4 major decision over Matt Waller.
Second ranked Jon Trenge gave Lehigh its first lead of the match, recording a 6-5 decision over Chris Jones. Trenge has nine straight wins and 26 on the season.
In the heavyweight bout Shawn Laughlin recorded his second win of the day. Laughlin recorded a takedown, an escape and used riding time to tab the 4-1 decision over Mike Carroll. Laughlin now stands at 11-7 on the season.
After upsetting Mason Lenherd at Penn, Mario Stuart seemed to have run out of gas. At 125, Stuart dropped a 5-2 decision to Rob Rebmann. Stuart now stands at 14-9 on the season.
At 133, Dan Hyman recorded a takedown in the last 6 seconds of the bout to tab the 6-4 decision over Joe Cristaldi. The Dragon’s forfeited the bout at 141 giving Tristan Boyd the win.
Lehigh will return to action March 9th as it hosts Easterns in Stabler Arena.
