Bethlehem, PA- Freshman midfielder Gina Lewandowski has been named Patriot League Brine Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 14. Lewandowski scored both goals in a 2-0 victory over Big East member Pittsburgh, running their record to an all-time high three games over .500 (4-1).
With Lewandowski leading the way, Lehigh has already equaled its victory total of a year ago in only five games. She currently is tied with fellow freshman Lauren Calabrese for the team lead in points with eight apiece.
Head coach Manny Oudin says the honor recognizes both the team and Lewandowski’s outstanding play so far. "She had a good week, and is obviously having a good year," said Oudin. "Winning certainly helps players get individual honors, so the fact that she won this as a freshman reflects very well on the team’s performance so far."
Lewandowski now has four goals on the season. She and the team will retake the field looking to stretch their winning streak to five as they travel to Long Island Wednesday night to take on Stony Brook. Game time is at 7:00.
