Bethlehem, PA – Head women’s soccer coach Manny Oudin has announced his class of 2007. Oudin, who is in second year at the helm of the Lehigh program, will add 12 new faces to a squad that will lose ten: eight to graduation and two that elected not to return.
Oudin broadened his recruiting area this year by inking players from six different states and one foreign country.
Pennsylvania signees include Gina Lewandowski (Coopersburg, PA/Allentown Central Catholic), Lauren Calabrese (Bethlehem, PA/Moravian Academy), and Tara Stottlemyer (Charleroi, PA/Charleroi). Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey will be represented by two players each. Karilyn Anderson (Brookfield, CT/Brookfield) and Emily Scott (Westport, CT/Staples) come to Lehigh from the Constitution State, Meghan Desanto (Union, NJ/Pingry School) and Emily Wettstein (Lebanon, NJ/North Hunterton) hail from the Garden State, while Lauren Fornuto (Smithtown, NY/Smithtown) and Kristin Johnson (Rockville Centre, NY/South Side) will represent the Empire State.
The final three newcomers hail from three unique locations. Daniela Molina (Cali, Columbia/Colegio Bolivar) becomes coach Oudin’s first international player, Meghan Duesing (Spring, TX/Klein Oak) is coach Oudin’s first Texan, while Molly Luft (Portland, OR/Lincoln) is the team’s first player from Oregon.
The positional breakdown of the signees include one goal keeper (Desanto), two forward/midfielders (Anderson and Lewandowski), four forwards (Calabrese, Molina, Scott, and Fornuto), one midfielder (Luft), three defender/midfielders (Stottlemyer, Wettstein, and Duesing), and one defender (Johnson).
"I’m very excited about the incoming freshmen class," said head coach Manny Oudin. "I feel the players coming in will have an immediate impact and should instantly contribute to the program. We attracted a good balance of players that should significantly contribute both offensively and defensively. The newcomers will also add depth to an already solid squad."
Lehigh will open its 2003 season on August 29th at Villanova, while the home opener will take place on August 31st vs. St. Francis (NY).
