Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh fell behind early and was never able to come back falling 72-60 to Colgate at Stabler Arena on Friday evening. The loss drops Lehigh to 12-13 overall and 9-4 in the Patriot League. The Raiders improve their record to 9-16, 4-9 in the league. Senior Anne Tierney was the star for the Mountain Hawks as she recorded yet another double double with 18 points and 16 rebounds. The first half saw Lehigh uncharacteristically turn the ball over 12 times, and trail by as many as twelve points. The Mountain Hawks were able to trim the deficit to ten at halftime, 38-28 with the help of senior Cat Nicholson’s nine points, all coming via the three-point shot. Coming out in the second half, Tierney scored the first six points to cut Colgate’s lead in half and it appeared as if the Mountain Hawks were on their way. But, Colgate had an answer for every Lehigh run and did not let the Brown and White get any closer than two points. Freshman Dawn Gorynski continued her solid play for Lehigh with nine points, four rebounds and a team high four assists, and Cat Nicholson finished up with 12 points on four three-pointers. As a team Lehigh shot 35% from the field, including 26% from behind the arc, compared to Colgate, which shot 45% and 42% respectively. The Raiders received 26 points from their bench, led by sophomore Emily Braseth with 15 points on six-of-eleven shooting. Lehigh returns to the court on Sunday when they welcome the league leading Crusaders of Holy Cross to Stabler Arena. Tip off is slated for 1:00 p.m. Top Performers
