Easton, PA – Lehigh lost a very tough game to archrival Lafayette by a score of 72-71, which drops its record to 12-12 overall and 9-3 in the Patriot League. Lafayette goes to 3-22, 2-10 in league action. Lehigh was led in scoring by sophomore Jessica DePalo who finished with 18 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Lehigh got off to a very slow start and trailed 39-30 going into the half. The Mountain Hawks, who shot 34% from the field for the half, were led by junior Carli Toliver who had nine points, all of which came via the three-point shot. Lehigh did not take its first lead until 11:28 remained in the game when DePalo put in a layup, and from that point on it would be a seesaw battle. The teams exchanged the lead several times in the final minutes with neither side going up by more than five. With less than ten seconds left, the Mountain Hawks took the lead and appeared to have wrapped up the victory until Colleen Fitzpatrick dropped in a layup with just one tenth of a second remaining. Senior Anne Tierney had nine points and 10 rebounds on the afternoon and she received help from Dawn Gorynski with 12 points and five assists. The Leopards were led in scoring by Fitzpatrick with a game-high 25 points. Lehigh returns to action on Friday when they welcome Colgate into Stabler Arena for a Patriot League clash. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. Top Performers
