Columbia hangs on for dramatic win

New York, NY – Junior Jana Ransom scored a career high 23 points, but the Mountain Hawks fell one point short, falling to Columbia by a 62-61 score at Levien Gym on Tuesday night. The loss drops Lehigh to 1-4 on the season, while the Lions improve to a perfect 4-0. Lehigh scored the first two points of the game, before the Lions sprinted out to an eight point cushion. The Mountain Hawks managed to tie the score at 20, before Columbia went on a 10-4 run to close out the half and take a 30-24 lead into halftime. In the second half, Columbia extended its lead to eleven before the Mountain Hawks made their push. Lehigh tied the score at 37, and managed to take a 56-54 lead, the Brown & White’s first since 2-0. However, Columbia responded, and escaped its own building with a heart-stopping win. Katie Day and Edytte Key each scored 13 points to lead the Lions. Jessica DePalo added ten off the bench for Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks return to action on Thursday, when Lehigh visits Binghamton. Game time is set for 7:00 from West Gym. Scoring
