Hamilton, NY – The small town of Hamilton, New York is like the Bermuda triangle for Lehigh teams. Every time Lehigh makes the long trip up route 12, it transforms into a different basketball team. It was obvious that the Mountain Hawks were not themselves on Wednesday night. Lehigh fell to the Raiders 73-57 in front of 152 fans.

Lehigh (10-12, 6-3 Patriot) jumped out to a 14-4 lead behind tough defense from Chantal St. Laurent and sharp shooting by Cat Nicholson. St. Laurent picked Colgate’s pocket for two steals in the first four minutes before finishing the game with four. Colgate (11-13, 5-4 Patriot) eventually cut the lead to one 4:21 to go in the first but Lehigh pushed its lead back to seven with just over two minutes to go. Again Colgate recovered however and the teams went to the locker room at the break with Lehigh leading by just two.

The second half started much like the first with Lehigh playing good defense and controlling the lead. The Mountain Hawks led by six with 12:26 to go before Colgate took over. The Raiders went on a 19-2 run fueled by a pair of three pointers by Victoria Briscoe and a three by Malissa Burke. Colgate led 60-49 with 5:58 to go and never looked back, handing Lehigh its worst league loss of the season.

Anne Tierney recorded her 12th double-double of the season with 13 points and 14 rebounds. She struggled getting her 13 points however as she shot just 5-of-16 from the field. Jana Ransom led all scorers with 14 points on the evening connecting on 6-of-9 attempts from the floor. Ransom pulled down four rebounds and recorded two steals in the losing effort. Lehigh shot just 38% from the field and struggled from behind the arc shooting just 20%. The tandem of Nicholson and Carli Toliver shot a combined 2-13 from behind the arc.

The Raiders had four players in double figures led by Victoria Briscoe with 14 points. Briscoe added five rebounds and three assists in the win. Milaina Lagzdins recorded a double-double with ten points and ten boards while Allison Lipinski scored 13 points and pulled down four rebounds. Sarah Parks rounded out the Colgate players in double figures with ten points and three steals.

Lehigh returns to action Saturday evening when it hosts Navy at Stabler Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30.
