BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Anne Tierney recorded her sixth double-double of the season, and Carli Toliver matched her career-best with 18 points, but a Lehigh three-point attempt bounded off the rim as time expired, and the Colgate Raiders hung on for a dramatic 81-78 win over the Mountain Hawks Saturday night at Stabler Arena. Both teams are now 1-1 in Patriot League play. Colgate is 7-9 overall, while the loss drops Lehigh to 5-10.

Lehigh led for the majority of the first half, but the Raiders rallied to take a 34-32 lead at the intermission. Colgate seemed to be pulling away, and took a 54-44 lead on a Victoria Briscoe three-pointer with 14:04 remaining. Briscoe paced the Raiders with 17 points, one of five Colgate players in double figures.

However, the Mountain Hawks refused to give in, and used a 24-8 run to pull ahead by a 70-62 score with 6:03 to play. The Raiders fought hard to tie the contest, and in the end, Colgate was able to escape with the 81-78 victory.

"I was proud of the way we fought back after being down," said Lehigh head coach Sue Troyan after the loss. "But we gave up too many points underneath, and we didn’t protect our home floor."

Lehigh was led by Tierney’s double-double (22 points, 12 boards), and 18 from Carli Toliver on 4-10 shooting from long range. The Raiders were paced by Briscoe’s 17, and 15 points apiece from Milaina Lagzdins and Malissa Burke. Senior guard Sarah Parks also added 12 points, 8 assists, and four steals in the win.

Lehigh returns to action on Wednesday, when the Mountain Hawks visit Navy. Tip-off is set for 5:15 from Annapolis, and audio coverage gets underway at 5:00.
