Stony Brook, NY – Lehigh surpassed its win total of last season with a 54-48 triumph over the Stony Brook Seawolves at the SBU Sports Complex on Monday afternoon. The victory gives the Mountain Hawks a 6-3 record, while the setback drops Stony Brook to 5-4. Senior Matt Logie led Lehigh’s effort with 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting, and fellow co-captain Zlatko Savovic poured in 18 points and came away with two steals in the win. Matt Crawford led Lehigh’s efforts on the glass, as the senior tied a season high with 10 rebounds. After the Mountain Hawks shot just 31% in the first half, Lehigh responded with a 52% effort from the floor in the second stanza to pick up the win. Strong defense and sluggish offense led to the 21-19 Seawolves lead at intermission, but Lehigh out-scored Stony Brook 35-27 in the second 20 minutes. Stony Brook was led by Cori Spencer’s double-double. The sophomore scored 18 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in a losing effort. Lehigh looks for its seventh win of the season next week, as the Mountain Hawks head to south Florida to battle the University of Miami. Tip-off is set for 7:00 from Miami Arena on December 30.
