Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh kicked off its 2002-03 season with a 68-62 victory over Ivy League foe Dartmouth at Stabler Arena in Billy Taylor’s first contest at the helm. The win improves Lehigh’s record to 1-0, while the Big Green drop to 0-1.

The game was nip-and-tuck the whole way, with the score being even at 33 going into halftime. The Mountain Hawks were led in the first half by their two guards, junior Ra Tiah, and senior Zlatko Savovic, who both netted eleven points.

Neither team seized control of the game in the second half, but the Mountain Hawks did a good job of hitting their free throws down the stretch to seal the victory. Senior Matt Logie finished with 18 points, including seven straight during one part of the second half. Tiah led Lehigh with a career high 20 points and his backcourt mate Savovic had an excellent all around game, finishing with 16 points.

Dartmouth's leading scorer was sophomore Mike McLaren who finished with 19 points on the evening.

Lehigh returns to action on Sunday as the Mountain Hawks travel to Champaign, Illinois to take on the nationally ranked Illinois Fighting Illini. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
